Men Care To!
This year MHCTas will be focusing on friends, families and unpaid carers in work places for Carers Week 2018.
Men’s core identity is often closely associated with their job, so work and work relationships play a very important role in the lives of working men.
Some industries, such as construction, manufacturing and transport, as well as some technical trades and professions, commonly have a high proportion of male employees. This makes these workplaces an ideal place to raise awareness about supports that are available for friends and families who support someone with mental ill health and give their workplaces a chance to support their employees in their caring role.
Anne Bevan will coordinate our Carers Week 2018 project as part of her Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work workplace placement. She will visit workplaces and schools from New Town to Glenorchy that typically identify with male employees and chat to employers about how MHCTas can support the workplace through face-to-face information sessions, brochures and links to other organisations who provide support.
We provide support state wide and if your workplace would like a visit from us, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or phone Carmel on 6228 7448 between 9 and 3pm Tuesday to Thursday for more information.
