Professor Allan Fels, Chair of the the National Mental Health Commission made an address at the National Press Club today, Tuesday 25 July 2017, to launch Equally Well – the National Consensus Statement on improving the physical health and wellbeing of people living with mental illness. Equally Well calls for better collaboration and coordination between governments, professional bodies, social and community services and other leaders in mental health to make the physical health of people living with mental illness a national priority. Equally Well ultimately aims to reduce the life expectancy gap that exists between people living with a mental illness and the general population.
